YOLANDA CORREA

Yolanda Correa is a Finnish-Cuban actor studying in the Theatre Academy. In addition to acting, Correa has worked in organizations and mental health advocacy, focusing on creating supportive communities for Black and Brown people. In her work as an afrofinnish actor, she aims to shake up existing hierarchies and narratives, challenge the one-dimensional representation of Black and Brown people in the arts, and explore alternative ways of creating, coming together, and telling stories.

Yolanda Correa on suomalais-kuubalainen näyttelijä, joka opiskelee Teatterikorkeakoulussa näyttelijäntaidetta. Näyttelijäntyön lisäksi Correalla on taustaa järjestötoiminnasta ja mielenterveystyöstä, keskittyen yhteisöjen luomiseen mustille ja ruskeille ihmisille. Työssään hän pyrkii ravistelemaan vallitsevia hierarkioita sekä narratiiveja, haastamaan mustien ja ruskeiden ihmisten yksiulotteista edustusta taiteessa ja tutkimaan vaihtoehtoisia tapoja luoda, tulla yhteen ja kertoa tarinoita.
